Watch our interview with The Wombats below!
English indie rockers The Wombats have just wrapped up their national Australian tour, bringing their superb fifth studio album, Fix Yourself, Not The World, to the live arena. We caught up with band members Tord Øverland Knudsen and Dan Haggis to chat about the run of shows.
Supported by Alfie Templeman, The Vanns and Jaguar Jonze, the band treated audience members to their energetic live show across Hobart, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane to a night ti highlights from their catalogue, opening with Flip Me Upside Down.
The introspective body of work takes listeners on an over arching journey to acceptance of yourself and the events of life, and finding joy and solace within being present within our own lives. There's a sense of reconciliation present on the album, reconciling with ourselves and our choices, and coming to the realisation that positivity and optimism hold greater currency than dwelling and negativity.
The creation of If You Ever Leave, I’m Coming With You saw the trio undertake a new approach to their creative process, recording the record remotely from their respective homes. With Murphy based in Los Angeles, Knudsen in Oslo and drummer Haggis in London, the trio recorded their individual parts before sending them off to the albums producers, Jacknife Lee (U2, The Killers), Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey), Paul Meaney (Twenty One Pilots, Nothing But Thieves) and Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag‘n’Bone Man).
