Australia's brand new festival has made it's debut in Sydney! Summer Camp took over UNSW's Roundhouse over the weekend, the event marks Australia's first touring pride festival, creating a space that celebrates freedom and diversity full of wonderful local and international artists.
Leading the stacked line up was London’s Years & Years, the musical project of actor and singer Olly Alexander. and UK pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The bouncy Brit acts were joined by New Orleans’ hip hop and electronic artist Big Freedia, local icons The Veronicas, Cub Sport, New Zealand's Ladyhawke, Jess B, Confidence Man, Kinder, Sycco, The Merindas, Halfqueen (DJ Set), Jawbreakers, Yo Mafia, DJ Kiddy Smile, DJ Jodie Harsh, Coucou Chloé and a bevy of DJ’s, drag queens, dancers and performance artists. The festival is set to continue on to Melbourne next weekend!
Summer Camp Festival aims to enhance the creative landscape, offering an immersive experience for all that will serve as a playground of music and art culture. The festival serves as the nations first touring pride festival, creating a space that celebrates freedom and diversity full of wonderful local and international artists.
On creating a space for every walk of life, co-founders Kat Dopper shares: “Summer Camp Festival is a new inclusive festival experience that accepts all the cuties. It’s a chance to frolic in the forest with pals, dress up, and celebrate the true meaning of pride, Love has no labels at Summer Camp - it’s a place to call ‘homo’ this pride season. Let’s get sweaty this summer and feel the euphoria of being together and dancing again”
