Aussie favourites Skegss have unveiled their highly anticipated sophomore record, Rehearsal. Earlier this week, the band released the final single from the album, Bush TV, alongside a Super 8-shot visual, directed by Jamieson Kerr.
Recorded at The Grove Studios with Grammy-award winning producer Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice, The Wombats), the thirteen track record documents love, friendship and youthful musings, bringing the trios particular brand of DIY garage-rock to the collection of songs. The release expands on the ideas and sonics presented on their debut, curating a carefully considered body of work that showcases the bands ever growing musicianship
Last night, the trio launched the album at the opening of their frequent collaborator Jack Irvine's exhibition opening, with friends and fans present. Taking place at Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery, the exhibition showcased a number of Irvine's original paintings, including a behind the scenes view into the creation process of pieces he has created for Skegss throughout their collaborative efforts since 2014.
Made up of Ben Reed, Toby Cregan and Jonny Lani, Skegss will be hitting the road later this month, performing a handful of album launch shows across the east coast. The performances will mark the bands return to the stage in almost a year, taking place at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on March 28, Sydney’s Factory Theatre on March 30, and Brisbane’s Felons Barrel Hall on April 1. Tickets are on sale now!
