SAN CISCO COVER THE WIGGLES' 'H.O.L.I.D.A.Y'

Watch our full interview with San Cisco!

As The Wiggles continue to celebrate their 30th anniversary and illustrious career, we've been treated to the latest cut of their double album, ReWiggled. This time, Fremantle based indie-pop trio San Cisco have taken up the mantle of putting their spin on a Wiggles classic, delivering their breezy cover of H.O.L.I.D.A.Y.

Recontextualising the track into an upbeat groove that brings all of the indie-pop drenched sonics we've come to love from San Cisco, the effortless rendition harnesses the disco vibe of the original release and will have you boogieing all night long. The songs visual reunites the OG Wiggles, who wake up Jeff to show him a highlight reel of their holiday trip with San Cisco.

We were excited to receive an email from The Wiggles inviting us to be a part of their ReWiggled record along with so many other great artists. We had four songs to choose from; ‘The Shimmie Shake!’, ‘Romp Bomp a Stomp’, ‘H.O.L.I.D.A.Y’, and ‘Blow Up Your Balloon’. Straight away, the disco vibe and strong chorus hook from ‘H.O.L.I.D.A.Y’ caught our attention, and we unanimously agreed this was the track for us. In between our own recording session, Josh started playing around with a few ideas and directions we could take the song in until he came across what we all thought was an absolute vibe. Scarlett and I came in and did some vocals, and after a few tweaks of the arrangement and some bits and pieces here and there, we had our first Wiggles cover.” San Cisco share.

Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field adds, ‘We are so stoked with this cover – what an amazingly authentic version. SanCisco has taken all of the colour and fun of our original and injected it with their own incredible style – it’s perfect!”

ReWiggled is set to celebrate the children's band we all know and love, whilst also heading into uncharted territory as the group take on some of the worlds biggest hits. Side One of the album will bring together some of our favourite Australian musicians, including Spacey Jane, DZ Deathrays, The Chats, Stella Donnelly, Emily Wurramara, Polish Club, Dami Im, Donny Benet, Emma Donovan and The Putbacks, Custard, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Luca Brasi, and more, who join San Cisco and will all bring their own flavour to classic songs from The Wiggles.

The Wiggles are set to hit the road next year, bringing together the newly expanded line-up for shows throughout the day, whilst The OG Wiggles take over to rock out at night. The late shows will see the group joined by a rotating cast of artists including The Polish Club, DZ Deathrays, Planet and more to be announced.

ReWiggled is out March 11. Watch the visual for H.O.L.I.D.A.Y below!
