Sydney-based dream pop duo Royel Otis have shared their dazzling debut single, Without You. Having recently signed to OURNESS, the duo have delivered what is sure to become a track that will simmer all summer long.
Produced by Julian Sudek and mixed by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, Flaming Lips, MGMT), Without You takes its influence from Japanese city pop records and '90s nostalgia. Sonically, the track moves throughout its peaks and valleys, entered around distorted vocals and synthesised sounds. With a feel good guitar riff, the duo have created a piece that feels familiar but also brings a zesty burst of freshness.
The musical project of Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell began upon Maddell returning home after living in New York and finding himself working at a bar. Here, he had a chance encounter with Pavlovic who was fresh our of school. One night, Pavlovic showed Maddell his demos and the rest is history.
Without You is out now!
