In August, Naarm-based artist Juno Mamba has shared his fourth EP, Cold Rush, which serves as seven track emotive journey dedicated to his hometown of Ballarat. Now, the musician has released a live edition of the EP recorded at Abbotsford Convent's iconic Magdalen Laundry. To celebrate the release, the musician is taking us behind-the-scenes of the recording process.
“This is the first record I’ve made where I could hear a sound in my head and I was able to create exactly what I was after. It felt like my production ability caught up to my imagination.” the musician shares of Cold Rush.
My friend Michael’s two beautiful Moog $ynth$. The legendary Mini Moog and Matriarch.
Me on set, soundchecking my Moog Sub37 synth.
Michael soundchecking his gear.
This is Charle’s fingerless gloves. Incredible director and taste in gloves.
Michael and I facing off, Battleship style.
Shot for the gear-heads. This was my set up for the performance. Mixers and FX to my left, Sub37 in front, and my Super 6 to the right (not in shot).
Bit of downtime between takes :)
Michael’s side table, featuring a few of our favourite things.
Ok, now this is a serious pedalboard. This is all Michael’s toys and I don’t really know what they all do but they look expensive…..and it sounded great…
This is me probably wanting to wrap things up but Charle’s wanted more takes to be safe.
Money shot of the Onward and Matriarch (again…..Michael’s gear).
It’s a wrap! The wonderful crew I was lucky enough to work with. Was honestly one of the best days <3
