Stop And Smell The Lightning is out now!
Australian artist, Annie Hamilton has unveiled her hotly-anticipated sophomore album, Stop And Smell The Lightning. To celebrate the release, the singer is taking us behind-the-scenes of the filming of her latest single, Without You.
“The idea has lived rent-free in my head since I wrote the song,” Hamilton explains, describing it as inspired by her usual post-night-out ritual: “We wanted the video to feel drunk, euphoric, and convey the total joy of getting home, taking off your bra and heels, spinning around the kitchen, and belting your heart out, karaoke-style, into a spatula.”
The singer is in the midst of her national tour, which will wrap up in Fremantle / Walyalup this Saturday. Hamilton will then head to UK for a string of co-headline shows with Clews, before returning home in Sydney and Kiama next month. Tickets are on sale now!
We shot this video in an empty cottage on my cousin's farm. It is definitely haunted. we decked it out in trinkets from the local Vinnies.
DIY, props, very important reading
And it begins. the eggs are frying. chaos ensues.
Making this video was basically just an excuse for me to fry eggs (i love eggs so much) and dance around a kitchen. this is how every night out ends for me.
Shit is getting real. mantlepieces are collapsing. Fires are starting. annie still singing.
I think this is the point in the video where I'm unhinged-chaotic-dancing in the kitchen sink, pegging plates and eggs around the room
Vegemite = crucial ingredient
You would never know, but we spent hours the day before unscrewing the cupboard doors from their hinges and meticulously re-attaching them to fall perfectly on cue. Shout-out to Rob who was both DoP and cupboard-wrangler. low budget high art!
