American singer and songwriter Omar Apollo returned to Australia for his God Said No world tour.
Kicking off at Melbourne's Festival Hall, the tour continued on to Sydney's Hordern Pavillion, before wrapping up at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. The musician hit our shores following the release of his hotly-anticiapted sophomore album, God Said No.
Crafted with executive producer Teo Halm at his side, the album arrives a little over two years after the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Ivory. The album features guest contributions from musician Mustafa on “Plane Trees” and actor Pedro Pascal on the aptly titled spoken-word piece “Pedro.” The album title is Apollo's interpretation of “lo que sera, sera” which translates to “whatever will be, will be” or “it is what it is.”
Working from London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios with his trusted collaborators — producers Halm, Blake Slatkin, and Carter Lang — Apollo crafted the core of the body of work. Born from the emotional wreckage that followed the end of a torrid love affair, the 14-track album is titled after something his friend said while processing the relationship. “I gave it my everything,” Apollo says, “And God said ‘no.’”
