Watch our interview with Conor and Dom from Nothing But Thieves below!
English rockers Nothing But Thieves have delivered their fourth studio album, Dead Club City. We caught up with frontman Conor Mason and guitarist, keyboardist and producer Dominic Craik to chat about the release, their evolution, touring Australia and so much more.
Recorded and self-produced by Craik alongside John Gilmore on production and engineering, and Mike Crossey on mixing, the band present a dynamic body of work that ushers in a new sound for the five-piece. Effortlessly weaving together threads of pop, hip-hop, rock and 80’s synth work into textural soundscapes that ooze with charisma, Dead Club City is built upon mesmerising production, sizzling riffs and Mason’s captivating vocals that lure you in to the albums conceptual nature.
Building their own city across 11 tracks, each song serves as a different inhabitant of this new realm and its mindset. Mirroring the socioeconomic issues within our own society, the body of work explores themes of unity, internet culture, politics and advertising, alongside a broader view on the music industry, growing up and escapism within a nuanced viewfinder, and how your socioeconomic status plays into each topic.
Having toured Australia earlier this year, Nothing But Thieves will embark on a North American tour this September, before returning to the UK for national run of shows. The band wi then hit the road across Europe next February.
