MILEY CYRUS BLESSES US WITH A LIVE ALBUM!

☆☆☆☆☆

Having just wrapped up her mammoth South American tour, global superstar Miley Cyrus has delivered a brand new live album, ATTENTION: Miley Live, and we have truly been blessed. Recorded in February when the singer took to the stage at Superbowl Music Fest, the album features a bevy of hits and fan favourites from Cyrus' illustrious catalogue.

Alongside classic songs including We Can't Stop, The Climb, Wrecking Ball and Party In The U.S.A., Cyrus had called upon her fans last year to help her craft her 2021/22 setlist. We're treated to deeper Bangerz cuts with 4×4 and (SMS) Bangerz, Dooo It! from the singers incredible 2015 Soundcloud album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and so much more.

Of course, some of the albums highlights are when Cyrus dives deep into her catalogue, to perform the songs that made her a star. Early hits like See You Again and 7 Things will take you back to being a teen. the singer also performed Never Be Me from Plastic Hearts for the very first time at this show, and yes WE'RE CRYING!

One thing Cyrus is known for; she can deliver a mighty fine cover. And that's what we get on ATTENTION: Miley Live. Pixies' Where Is My Mind?, Janis Joplin's Maybe, Cher's Bang Bang, Madonna's Like A Prayer, Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U, and of course, the singers staple cover of Blondie's Heart Of Glass which went viral in 2020. Bringing her own edge to the songs, you wouldn't be blamed for thinking Cyrus penned these classics. The singer also performed Edge of Midnight, which fuses together Cyrus' own Midnight Sky and Stevie Nicks' seminal hit, Edge of Seventeen.

When Cyrus returned in 2020 with her superb album, Plastic Hearts, this writer called her a rock god. With ATTENTION: Miley Live, Cyrus continues to hold that status, bringing fierce and commanding vocals to her live set, never faltering or missing a beat. Bringing the hit songs from her teenage years into a contemporary setting, recontextualising them into her current rock-based sonic realm reminds us that Cyrus has always been a rock star. Her recent South American tour is another moment that offers more proof of the fact. She holds the record for the largest audience attendance in the history of Lollapalooza Brazil, with 103,000 audience members attending the singers set.

With 16 years in the business, Miley can't stop.

5/5 Stars
