Chart-topping singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Lauv has treated us all with his superb sophomore album, All 4 Nothing. We caught up with the musician to chat about the release and more!
Across the body of work, Lauv delivers honest and vulnerable lyricism as he navigates confidence, love, childhood memories and the loss of innocence. With deep reflection and introspection, the musician maps the loss of free-spirited energy and lust for life dims as you grow older and anxiety and the pressures of adulthood creep in. Bringing a more story telling approach to his lyricism, the musician continues to prove his knack for relatable songwriting, capturing the thoughts of a generation.
All 4 Nothing also marks a new creative approach for the musician, taking more of a back seat in terms of producing and opening himself to collaboration. Jumping behind the mic in the studio and freestyling lyrics allowed for new avenues of experimentation and creativity, whilst led to the expansion of his sound. Introducing new sonic threads, the alt-pop release hones in on dynamic and inviting soundscapes that unfurl beneath Lauv's captivating vocal performance.
With over 11 billion streams across his catalogue, Lauv burst onto the scene in 2015 with his viral hit The Other, before taking over the airwaves across the globe with I Like Me Better, which went went sextuple-Platinum in the US and Platinum in twelve other countries. In 2020, the musician unveiled his debut album, ~how i’m feeling~, which spawned the singles I’m So Tired, Mean It, There’s No Way and Fuck, I’m Lonely.
