Australian band Kingswood have shared their new single, Why Should I Let You Go. To celebrate the release, the band have shared with MILKY their top five tales and stories from life on the road.
"Why Should I Let You Go?" was recorded on an impromptu and inspired sojourn in Paris, France where we wanted to capture the progression of the song as it developed across Nashville dive bars and the mountains of Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.” the band share.
“The original was written in solitude, lamenting over a Nashville skyline but very quickly developed a new life on the road with a refreshed and hopeful energetic lift, echoing the reinvigorated musical take that band naturally fell into as we experienced audiences all over the world. The resounding nature of the chorus, pushing the idea that love has a journey for us all seemed to resonate across all environments and languages.”
Kingswood are currently embarking on their record-breaking Australian tour, playing over one hundred shows across the country. The mammoth tour will continue into July, with full details below.
BERMAGUI HOUSE PARTY
After a run of shows in the South East of NSW, we sat down in the back of the bus and planned where we would spend our next few days. A group of fans from our Tilba Valley show suggested Bermagui. After a few days of enjoying secret beaches and the blue pools we were invited to a house party. We had no plans so accepted and suggested we would play it. The town rallied and in a tin shed out the back of the house we put on one of the best shows of the tour so far, a real highlight. Thanks Bermi.
BLUE MOUNTAINS
After our Katoomba show we drove Peggy to the Three Sisters lookout at the peak of the Blue Mountains. It was pitch black, but as we rose in the morning we looked out the window to a most glorious view. Coffee on the roof and a trail walk made for a perfect day.
BATHURST
Yes, we drove the bus around Mt, Panorama. The track was ready for a 12 hour race the following weekend with stands erected. The lap record is 1:59. We got around in 9:13.
THE SUNDAY SESH
We are playing a lot of Sunday shows, often in the early evening or afternoon. And we have found them to be an excellent vibe. Playing in a beer garden overlooking the ocean as the sun sets and the punters are pumped up has created some of the best shows on the tour. Kingscliff, Mission Beach, Tomakin and Rye are standouts.
THE BREAKDOWN
An hour into our drive from Goldy to Tamworth, Peggy broke down. The most important thing was to make the Tamworth show and it was gonna be tight. Tow truck, maxi taxi, rental van, down to the wire we pulled into the Tamworth hotel at 9:30 and went on at 10. Peggy will be fine. The tour goes on.
