We sit down with Aussie band, Surf Trash, backstage at their sold-out single launch at The Lansdowne to talk about their new track ‘Wrong Or Right’, pre-2000's music, performing socially distanced shows and so more!
The three-piece alt-rock band recently released Wrong Or Right. The song is a continuation of the bands exploration of indie-rock sounds, creating a dream like soundscape which perfectly exhibits the 60’s surf inspired riff that the track is built upon. Conceptually, the track navigates the line between infatuation and an unknown fate.
The band recorded the track at The Grove Studios with producer Jack Nigro (Middle Kids, DMA’s, Skegss). Working within the natural bush landscape the central coast studio is situated in, the trio found the inspiration to begin exploring new mature sounds, moving away from the sunny coastal sounds prevalent on their EP Busy Doing Nothing.
Made up of brothers Andrew (drums/lead vocals) and Nicholas Scott (bass) and Lachlan Jackson (guitar), Surf Trash have spent the better part of the last 18 months performing across the country. With their debut headline tour seeing the trio perform to sold-out crowds. The band also found themselves on the festival circuit, performing at Festival Of The Sun, NYE On The Hill and St Kilda Festival.
Whilst their initial 2020 plans have been placed on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trio have been treating fans with live stream performances and have plans to get back in the studio early next year to work on a new full-length body of work.
