NSW-based quartet Pacific Avenue have treated us with their long-awaited debut album, Flowers. We caught up with the band to chat about the release, their distinct artistry, hitting the road and so much more!
Crafted across a two year period, at its core Flowers centres itself around love and acceptance in its many facets. Storytelling lyricism paints vivid scenes of moments shared together and captures the electricity of romanticism and the camaraderie of friendship. Laced with anthemic chorus' and sing-a-long melodies, the body of work drives home the bands craftful musicianship as a unit whilst also allowing each band member the moment to shine.
Frontman Harry O'Brien's impassioned vocals never falter, reaching soaring highs atop Ben Fryer's exhilarating guitar work. Jack Kay delivers groove-laden bass lines within the bands signature take on indie-rock, driven home by Dom Littrich's propulsive beats. Weaving in elements of Brit-pop throughout, Flowers finds Pacific Avenue at the top of their game with a curated body of work full of tracks that together create a solid debut offering.
Kicking off in Boorloo/Perth on July 27, the bands national tour will continue on to Tandanya/Adelaide, Naarm/Melbourne, Meanjin/Brisbane and Eora/Sydney, before wrapping up in Naarm/Melbourne on August 19. With the first Brisbane show having already sold-out, be sure to grab your tickets quick! Pacific Avenue will also celebrate the release of Flowers with in-store appearances this weekend. The band will appear at Soundmerch in Melbourne tonight, Sonic Sherpa in Brisbane tomorrow and will spend Sunday at Crosstalk Records in Sydney and Music Farmers in Wollongong.
