INTRODUCING NUUM

Watch our interview with Nuum below!

Australian singer-songwriter and producer Nuum recently unveiled his new single, Peter Pan. We caught up with the musician to chat about the release, crafting his sound, his creative process and so much more!

Continuing to delve into his experimental hyper-pop sound, Peter Pan was inspired by a Yasunori Mitsuda's Secret of the Forest, with the musician incorporating a hidden sample from the composition within the track. Nuums entrancing vocals float above a dynamic and textural soundscape, with the track serving as a reminder to experience life and put yourself in situations that sit outside of your comfort zone.

The release arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Dylan Mariott of Video Loss and edited by Nuum. The clip creates a contrast between natural settings and more confined environments, juxtaposing self-doubt and opening yourself up to new experiences. Peter Pan serves as the musicians first release since signing with Coalesce Records.

Having studied classical piano as a child, the Perth-born, Melbourne-based artist was drawn to heavy electronic music and film soundtracks during his teens. This pivot in sound resulted in the purchase of a midi keyboard, setting Nuum on a path towards the music we hear today. Having made his debut last year with his EP, Spider Lily, the musician has since released an official remix of Japanese Shoegaze band 揺らぎyuragi’s While My Waves Wonder, and supported Gracie Sanders, Nick Ward and featured in Daine’s Nocturne event.
