Watch our interview with Muroki below!
Kenyan-New Zealand artist Muroki has unveiled his sophomore EP, Heading East. We caught up with the musician whilst he was in Sydney to chat about the release, his Australian tour and so much more!
Across the release, the musician expands his sonic palette by effortlessly weaving together threads of reggae, dance-electro, pop and funk. Muroki's mesmerising and luring vocals simmer above dynamic zestful percussion and bubbling bass lines, held together by melodious guitar work. The collection of songs documents stories and experiences had by the musician over the past three years, capturing the twists and turns of life in your twenties.
Muroki was the first artist signed by New Zealand’s platinum sensation BENEE to Olive Records, after the singer caught the attention of the global hitmaker through his self-released debut, Better or Worse. The musician made his way up the NZ charts with Wavy, whilst Surfin' earned him airplay down under. Having toured Australia earlier this year with BENEE, as well as hosting a handful of headline shows, Muroki will return to our shows for an east coast tour later this month.
Kicking off on September 24 at Wanderer Festival on the Sapphire Coast of NSW, Muroki's Australian tour will continue on to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, before wrapping up at Promiseland Festival on Gold Coast on October 2. The musician will then head home to New Zealand, performing in Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, Dunedin and Gisborne. Tickets are on sale now!
