Genre-defying singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Fousheé recently unveiled her new project, softCORE. We caught up with the musician in Sydney to chat about the release, crafting her sound, touring Australia with Steve Lacy and so much more!
Born and raised in New Jersey, the singer immersed herself within music from an early age and began writing and performing at the age of six. Her breakout ARIA Gold single, deep end, placed the singer in the same league as Tracey Chapman as she became the first black female artist to hit the top 10 on U.S. Alternative Radio since Chapman's Crossroads. With two EP's and a string of singles under her belt, softCORE serves as Fousheé's latest full-length project.
Featuring the singles I'm Fine, Supernova and Spend the Money, the body of work fuses together sonic threads of punk, alt-rock and R&B to create hybrid soundscapes that oozes with confidence and charm that juxtaposes themes of anger and vulnerability.
Fousheé has just wrapped up her debut Australian tour, supporting with American musician and producer Steve Lacy on his Give You the World Tour, with the singer having co=penned Lacy's hit single, Bad Habits. With each date having sold-out in minutes, leading to additional shows and venue upgrades, the tour visited Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
