Watch our interview with Death By Denim!
Perth-based four-piece Death by Denim recently treated us all with the release of their sophomore album, Moonbow. We caught up with the band whilst on tour in Sydney to chat about the release, their new sound, performing live and so much more!
Weaving together an illuminating palette of influences, the collection of songs brings a new evolution from the band, pivoting away from the sound present on their debut into new uncharted territory. Weaving together threads of rock and disco with dreamy notes of psychedelia, Moonbow showcases each band member at their best. Palle Mazzulla's enthralling guitar lines soar above Hamish Macarthur's driving percussion, all tied together by George Gunson's blazing bass lines.
Heralded by captivating synth-work, the refined nature of the record spills into the concepts and themes explored across the album. Capturing the uncertainty and anxieties present worldwide over the past two years, each song on the 14-track release relates to the differing relationships and personal experiences felt within the band. Traversing love, loss and the human existence, vivid lyricism is laced throughout, brought to life by frontman Nik Iliadis' mesmerising vocal performance.
Having already taken to the stage in Fremantle, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Wollongong, the Moonbow tour will continue on to Brisbane tonight, before performances in Byron Bay and the Sunshine Coast. The tour marks the live debut of tracks from their sophomore effort, with tickets are on sale now.
