Watch our full interview with Carla Wehbe!
Sydney-based artist Carla Wehbe has shared her debut EP Half Past Nine and we sat down with the singer to chat about the release!
On the body of work, Wehbe explores themes of love (for others and self), the beauty (and ugliness) of human connection and the vulnerability of living out your own truth. Love Me For Me in particular navigates mental health, serving as a message to young people struggling with mental health to know they’re not alone. On her latest single Somebody Loves You, Wehbe navigates love at first sight and the emotions of unrequited love. It lyrically creates intricate fantasies of what your life could be like together, knowing these thoughts will remain in your wildest dreams.
The release is built around Wehbe's signature smooth and pure pop vocals, the nostalgic track takes its sonic influence from edgy 80’s sounds, with the singer enlisting Boyboy (CXLOE) on production duties. Wehbe will launch Half Past Nine with her debut headline show, taking place tomorrow night at Monster Skate Park at Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday 10 December. The singer will take to the stage with her full band to perform her new tracks live for the first time, in the muddle of a half pipe. Tickets are on sale now!
Exploring every facet of her creativity, Wehbe is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, taking control over every piece of art she creates. She is also a hugely talented photographer and videographer and is set to launch her own clothing label in the not too distant future.
Half Past Nine is out now. Watch our interview with Carla above.
