GRAMMY®-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Alexander 23 recently unveiled his long-awaited debut album, Aftershock. We caught up with the musician whilst he was in Sydney to chat about the release, his artistry, touring and so much more!
Produced by the musician alongside GRAMMY®-winning producer Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, Conan Gray), Aftershock documents the afterthoughts that arise in the demise of a relationship, navigating the lingering grief and heartbreak whilst also offering moments of empathy towards his former flame. The body of work showcases Alexander 23's depth and maturity as a songwriter, laced with moments of intimacy and vulnerability brought to life by the musicians compelling vocal performance.
Sonically ebbing and flowing between high energy soundscapes and melancholic moments, the 11-track release captures the trove of emotions present thematically through its refines and luring production. Across the body of work, the musician taps an illustrious list of collaborators. Hate Me If It Helps was penned alongside GRAMMY®-winning pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo, GRAMMY® nominated and multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer, Charlie Puth lends his talents to RIP You And Me, and more co-writes with Amy Allen and Jeremy Zucker.
Having last visited our shores in early 2020 supporting Blackbear on his Dead 2 The World tour, Alexander 23 has returned to Australian stages alongside brother trio, AJR. Earlier this week, the musician performed in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, with his Aftershock tour set to continue on to North America, the UK and Europe.
