Melbourne-based duo Adult Art Club recently unveiled their debut self-titled album. We caught up with Matthew Kopp (Running Touch) and Zac Waters to chat about the release, their union of art and music, live show plans and so much more!
Released via RÜFÜS DU SOL’s label imprint, Rose Avenue Records / The Orchard, the duos debut body of work cements their place as one of Australia's most exciting emerging dance acts. Textural and dynamic soundscapes ooze throughout, fuelled by multi-layered production that leans into both the brighter and more subdued shades of the genre.
Pushing the boundary of their sound, Adult Art Club is an experimental dream that finds Kopp and Waters effortlessly weaving together threads inspired by the different avenues of dance music, to create a genre-blurring auditory feast. Whilst the record finds freedom in the songs' less conceptually driven lyrical nature, there are thematic moments inspired by the pairs' heritage and art culture.
Creation and honouring art in all its form is a core value at the centre of Adult Art Club, The albums visual identity finds the duo teaming up with a number of Melbourne-based artists to unite the circles of music, art and fashion within their projected artistry. Collaborating with the the likes of House Arrest, Blu Jay, Goblin Tom and more, each song on the album is accompanied by an official visual which documents the creative process of a new artist per video.
