Rising Māori-Australian artist Creed Tha Kid has unveiled his hotly anticipated debut album, CREED.. To celebrate the release, the musician has shared with MILKY five things he thinks everyone should know about him.
"The music all represents different parts of who I am as an artist. Whether it's genres, production styles, subject matters etc. all of it creates who CREED is whilst trying to figure out who CREED will be." Creed Tha Kid shares.
FASHION
I’m inspired by Japanese streetwear and European fashion. Brands like Puma, Asics and CDG are really my vibe. At some point I'd want to have my own clothing brand!
THE STYLE OF MUSIC I DO
I grew up with 5 brothers and sisters and was heavily influenced by what they love - my older brother was more into UB40, Reggae and Bob Marley. My other brother loved Andre 3000, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and my sisters gave me most of my R&B and hip-hop music knowledge, so I take from a lot of those genres and honestly struggle to stick to one sound.
PERSPECTIVE
I'm very passionate about mental health. You can't give too much out if you're empty on your end. I think a lot of people are scared to talk about it but recently I've seen a lot more Australian Artists who are paving the way to chat about it. I love self-care.
MULTI-FACETED CREATIVE
I love photography, production, dancing, creative directing. I'm a leader at heart so I love to be hands on in the process. I have a strong creative vision but sometimes I struggle to communicate, so I like to get my hands dirty, because I think I can show better than I can tell.
MĀORI-DESCENT
It plays a big part in wanting to do a lot more for my community. I have a lot of love for my family, my sound isn't only for islanders and Māori to listen to but when I have their support it means the world.
