Breakout Australian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Eddie Benjamin has delivered his new EP, Weatherman.
Produced in collaboration with Kid Culture, who serves as a co-writer for each track with further credits from Mike Sabath and Alex Salibian [Harry Styles, Weatherman finds the musician leaning into his notstalgic-meets-contemporary approach to creating pop soundscapes that push up against the confines of the genre. Layered and textural vocals flow above dynamic soundscapes fuelled by mesmerising synth work and bubbling bass lines - most notably present on the EP's new single, Over The Moon.
Introspective and storytelling lyricism unfurls across the eight tracks, documenting themes of love, heartbreak, mental health and finding your feet as a young adult. “All of my songs are about major moments and memories in my life,” Benjamin shares. “That’s what drives my music—it’s a constant flow of colors and intense, sometimes terrifying emotions.” Channelling the likes of Elton John, particularly on tracks such as This Place and Weatherman, and Harry Styles with gripping chord progressions and instrumentation, the collection of songs asserts Benjamin's place as one of the most exciting burgeoning superstars.
