CAPTURING A MOMENT WITH SARA KAYS’ 'PICTURE OF YOU'

Image: Supplied.

Nashville based singer songwriter Sara Kays brings her melodic, cathartic and charming voice to her latest single Picture of You. Reminiscent of Taylor Swift in her Teardrops On My Guitar era, Kays brings a comforting charm to her follow up from Remember That Night?, released last year. Kays utilises her talent as a gifted guitarist to bring her own brand of alternative pop to the masses, having written and recorded the track herself.

Kays states, “I wrote this song about not wanting to be in pictures all the time because I know I'm not going to like how I look in them. Sometimes I'd rather just keep a memory in my head.”

Picture of You looks at aspects we all can relate to, questioning how we will look in an image and wishing we took a picture of others rather than ourselves. Ultimately it is about memories, whether it be a physical image or a mental snapshot. The release comes alongside an official lyric video, showing the vision of a photo being taken on loop, ultimately ending with a photo being taken of the viewer perspective.

Kays has garnered great success with her acclaimed EP Camera Shy achieving over 15m worldwide streams and her previous single Remember That Night? becoming a viral track when Kays performed a snippet on TikTok with over 3 million views and over 720k likes in less than a week. Kays uses her music to share her thoughts on struggles such as isolation, body issues and fractured family.

Picture Of You is out now, be sure to watch the lyric video below.
