Unaccompanied Minor is out now!

Earlier this month, 17-year-old rising bedroom pop singer-songwriter morgen unveiled her superb debut EP, Unaccompanied Minor. To celebrate the release, the singer has shared with MILKY five things you should know about your new favourite artist.

Speaking of the track, the singer shares with MILKY: "I picked Unaccompanied Minor to be the title of my EP because of an experience I had the first time I flew alone. My mom paid extra for me to have basically the 4-year-old treatment which meant I got a flight attendant with me the entire time I flew, and had to wear a tag that read UMNR (unaccompanied minor) in bold. It wasn’t necessarily a horrible experience, it just made me think about how I felt as a young adult venturing into “the real world” or whatever. Like I hated not being in control of where I was going with the flight attendants, but I also really enjoyed knowing someone was looking out for me. I feel the same way about my life currently…I want to be able to make my own decisions and be treated like an adult, but have somebody there to help guide me…which may or may not happen so right now I’m just kind of feeling like a kid in a grownups world."

ONE

I teach karate as my day job, have a black belt and have been doing it since I was 9. It’s one of the few things that keeps me sane alongside music. The act of repeating techniques is meditative, and it’s taught me a lot about patience and strength, both internally and externally.

TWO

I have a few bizarre things about my ears...a very random part of my body but here we go haha. I have a blue birthmark on the left side of my face that has spread and turned the entirety of my ear blue, I can wiggle my ears, and they are ridiculously small.

THREE

Before I was a musician I wanted to be on Broadway and actually auditioned for Broadway, but just never landed a role. I don’t even remember what i auditioned for, it was kind of a workshop type of thing where we had casting agents come at the end to watch us audition...a few of my friends got callbacks, I remember I was honestly unbothered because I didn’t like the process of auditioning so i didn’t want to go back for a callback.

FOUR

I wrote my first song when I was five and still remember it to this day. It was about my family and the ocean and dolphins...it was so cute. Sometimes my grandparents still make me sing it at family events...not gonna lie it’s definitely gotten old, it didn’t exactly age well.

FIVE

My first memory was of me when I was 3 in a dance recital in front of hundreds of people and having to be dragged off stage once the performance ended because I didn’t want to leave.
