Over the weekend, R&B artist Milan Ring kicked off her Australian headline tour, in celebration of the release of her debut album, I'm Feeling Hopeful. To celebrate the run of shows, the singer has shared with MILKY five things she's most looking forward to about hitting the road.

Written, recorded, executive produced and mixed in its entirety by the musician in her studio, the release paints the picture of a multi-faceted being, with acute observations and thoughts on love, mental health, addition and freedom. Meandering between jazzy piano work and bewitching beats, Ring's mesmerising spoken word and sultry vocals take centre stage across the collection of songs as her vocals soar above scintillating production.

“When we allow our minds to run rampant we often hurt ourselves, those around us and those around them in the process. But in these moments we always have the choice to break through the negative dialogue and lean into love, forgiveness and gratitude,” Ring shares of the record.. “It isn’t easy, but life is a blessing and I’m feeling hopeful.”

ONE

Of course, the audience is my number 1 ~ no more online vibes, actually seeing people's IRL faces and feeling the collective energy in the room, and getting to chat to them afterwards, nothing can replace that!

TWO

The backstage hangs ~ with the band and crew and family that we have in each city, this is always such an important time for me, to feel connected and held by my community.

THREE

The food! ~ I love finding new spots to eat in different cities, plus breaking bread with your touring party is an important time I feel!

FOUR

The “zone” ~ those moments of pure presence and freedom I feel when I’m on stage ~ I lose myself in it, and it makes all the chaos and organising and planning and emails and travelling melt away.

FIVE

Fresh hotel beds ~ Falling into the silent softness of a hotel room after an epic gig and a night of blasting my ears is pretty damn nice.
