Graduation Day is out now!

Acclaimed musician and Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley recently unveiled his new single, teaming up with Little Birdy’s Katy Steele on Graduation Day. To celebrate the release and his national tour, the musician has shared with MILKY what he's most lookinf forward to about getting back on the road!
“Myself and Katy have been friends for many, many years. Katy did her first Little Birdy demos in the back shed of my old house while Eskimo Joe were writing our second album A Song Is A City. We almost asked Katy to join Eskies playing keyboards, but Little Birdy was such a great musical project that it would have been criminal if she didn’t get out there and become the musical goddess that we all new she was destined to become. After two years of such extreme isolation, it was an absolute pleasure to get in a room together and work on some new music. You never know if the magic is going to happen when you sit down to write a song with someone, but Graduation Day just felt right straight away”. Temperley shares of the collaboration.
Having already kicked off the tour with a performance in Perth, the run of shows will continue tonight Bendigo, before visiting Tallarook, Warrnambool, Newcastle, Gosford, Illawarra and Canberra over the following fortnight.
ONE
This will be my first tour since Covid times and I'm incredibly excited to be out on the road playing live shows again. This will be an extensive regional tour so it’s going to be great to see the country again and reconnect with fans.
TWO
I’m going to be playing a song off my album Machines of Love & Grace which comes out in September, as well as songs off my last solo album and some Eskies classics, but I’m really looking for to seeing how audiences respond to the new songs, I’ve sat with these tunes for the last two years so its going to be great give them some much needed oxygen.
THREE
I’m also going to be playing songs from my Eskimo Joe back catalogue, not in the way you would know them, but how the songs sounded when I first played them to the band on an acoustic guitar. Most of my songs go on a journey before they get turned into the stadium bangers that you hopefully all know and love, and I’m excited about showing people where they started and the stories behind the journey.
FOUR
Again, I haven't done a long tour like this in a while so in my head I have a very romantic view of being out on the road, playing a different town every night. But I'll most likely get out on the road and miss my dog and family... possibly in that order... haha.
FIVE
I’ve put together a show with visuals that I’ve edited together from old silent horror films. It looks like some kind of David Lynch-esque dream scape, but it creates an amazing mood and helps tell the stories of the songs. The whole tour is just me with an acoustic guitar, a kick drum and these amazing visuals. I can't wait.
