Melbourne act J4 recently dropped their new single, Fast Lane. To celebrate the release, the band have shared with MILKY five things they do to slow down life in the fast lane.
“This song is about needing to retire from city life and move to the country, but never actually doing it.” vocalist Bronte Maguire shares. “I think that line speaks to us in 10 years living on a farm, with a veggie patch, a bunch of rescued animals and a big studio out the back.”
TAKING THE DOG FOR A WALK
Nothing better than going for a stroll with my dog Banjo. I walk him off lead and he’s such a good walking companion. If you don’t have a dog, ask to borrow a friends for an hour! Walking recommendations: the streets of Fitzroy North, Darebin walking trails or Merri Creek in Naarm.
BOARD GAMES WITH FRIENDS
We love board games in our house! It’s a nice way to connect with friends without a screen. Game recommendations: Catan, Spy Alley, Wingspan or a good old fashioned puzzle.
ARVO BEERS AT THE PUB
This is an obvious one. There’s nothing better than meeting some friends at the pub for a pint and some hot chips. Extra points for beer garden and sunshine!
GETTING STONED
Duh. Smoke a joint with your mates, watch a movie, eat some popcorn and have the definition of a chill time.
READING A BOOK
I’ve been hitting the audio books for the past few years, but have reconnected with reading physical books again, and fuck it’s so relaxing. Best served with a warm tea and comfy couch, and followed with a nap cause it makes me sleepy. Book recommendations: The Girl Before by JP Delaney, John Dies at the End by David Wong, In Order to Live by Yeong Mi Park, Needful Things by Stephen King.
